The Coliseum, The Forum, and Sleepy Kiddos

We're here! And it's been a long day.  Actually a long two days! I'm posting this a day late because I'm just getting a chance to connect to wifi and post this!

We landed in Rome at 8:00 am on Tuesday morning after a long and sleepless night on the plane.  We had a busy day planned and we were on our feet all day.  We boarded our bus and met our guides: Flavio and Ilaria (sorry if I spelled it wrong!). They are amazing and we LOVE them! Funny, kind, outgoing, and knowledgeable.  Perfect! Oh, and they're music lovers. :)

We arrived at the Coliseum and had about 2 hours of free time to explore the area around the Coliseum and Forum.  I'm known for taking my tour group out of their comfort zones and finding cool places off the beaten path.  We found a delicious little butcher shop with a super cute man who was hand making paninis!  It was underneath his apartment and across from an aqueduct fountain built by the ancient Romans! The water is super cold and great to drink!

After lunch, we found some amazing places for a photoshoot.  With a whole group of girls and me being a photographer, we got a little carried away.  I'll spare you the majority! ;)

Then, it was time for the big sight of the day! Our tour guide, Francesca, was fabulous and so informative.  We learned all about the Roman rulers, the creation of the Coliseum, and the fights and events that happened there.  It was amazing to see these amazing places in real life!

I'll leave you with this cute picture of some of our kiddos passed out on the bus.  I feel like this pretty much sums up how I feel right now, too.  We are so happy to be here.  Italy is so beautiful More tomorrow!

Ciao!

Elise
